In order to make better use of my time devoted to tarot and the community that is building around Miss Michele, I am no longer able to provide free three-card tarot readings through this blog.

I will be offering $5 / 5-card readings here every day, with no more than a three-day turn-around, in order to better serve my customers. I will also offer my other spreads, and will continue to run discount specials.

If you would like a FREE tarot reading from Miss Michele, I will still provide those, "live" on a weekly basis!

You can find Miss Michele on the RadioXShow every Wednesday night at 11 PM (eastern time). The radio show begins at 10, and I urge you to get there when the show begins, as free reading slots may fill up quickly! You can call in with your questions or post them in the available chat room. (Miss Michele will be hanging out in the chat room prior to her appearance to answer questions *about* tarot or to just enjoy the show with RadioX listeners.

The cards were virtually jumping out of Miss Michele's hands for this reading. in the past, Hop, you had it all, as exemplified by the major arcana, The World. You had a job you loved, that paid well, and were fulfilled in every area of your life. Things were easy, which makes what's to come even more difficult.

You will find a job, but you have a lot of hard work ahead of you, as shown in the Ten of Rods. You may have left your past job at a time when you were in danger of burn-out, and it's taking some time to recover. That "vibe" is coming across to potential employers. You are tired. However, on a good note, you are nearing the final stretch and will soon come out refreshed.

The Final Outcome shows another major arcana, Strength. You need self-discipline, inner strength and a thick skin to face the future, but you will prevail. Have patience, and be diplomatic in your dealings with others and success will follow.

Where in the World is Miss Michele?

Although this blog has been quiet, Miss Michele has been quite busy, offering private readings and scheduling public appearances.

You can hear her at www.radioxshow.com next Wednesday, May 21, at 10 PM, and at the Business & Learning Expo June 4 - 7, where she will offer free readings and talk a bit about the business and workings of tarot.

Miss Michele also gives readings every Wednesday morning between 10 and 11 AM at www.theechooofone.com. All of these appearances provide free, public readings, but, of course, you can always get a private reading from Miss Michele, on any topic, nearly any length.

I seem to be on a roll with two readings this morning, so it's time to draw a card of the day for Miss Michele!

Why am I not surprised that the Five of Cups has come up? This card, quite simply, shows my exhaustion today. Not so much physical (although that's an element) but emotional exhaustion.

While I still get fulfillment from reading tarot for others, none of my other jobs are inspiring me at the moment. I know this is a temporary, passing influence, but that is not making it easier to swallow.

Miss Michele drew another card to see how she could best get out of this frame of mind. And once again, the tarot is telling her what she already knows: hold firm and fight your way out of this mess, exemplified by the Seven of Wands. The competition is tough, but I am in a position to win out. (In this case, the competition seems to be just myself, and that artist's great opponent, "Resistance.")

So, it's off to work for MM! :)

Editorial Dilemma

First, Miss Michele offers her apologizes for being as absent and uncommunicative as the editor in question! We were expecting to have Web access during vacation, but found ourselves without it. (And enjoying the situation! LOL)

You couldn't ask for a better spread when asking about a new career opportunity!! I phrased the question as, "What will be so for our writer friend in regard to this assignment?"

The first card, indicating the past or heart of the matter is the Nine of Cups, the Wish card. This card indicates how badly you want this job and how you viewed this opportunity as a dream-come-true.

The near future is the Wheel of Fortune--this major arcana tells us that things will change, to your benefit, shortly!

The Ace of Rods shows us the final outcome--Rods, or wands, mean things are moving quickly, and the ace indicates a new beginner, the start of a new venture.

This combination of positive cards also tells me that you have made the right choice to pursue freelance writing and can look forward to a lucrative career in the long term.

Now, if you don't hear from the editor shortly, this combination could mean that *another* opportunity will arise, right when you least expect it. This is what my instincts are saying as a reader. I just don't believe the opportunity will be with this editor, but another door will be opening for you--and soon! Things will change unexpectedly, a reversal of fortune, as indicated by the Wheel. Keep your eyes open, continue pressuring Editor #1, but not at the expense of pursuing other opportunities. In either event, wherever the opportunity comes from, it will be long-term and lucrative. Miss Michele's Meme Reading

Stacey aka Wyntermoon, good friend, fellow writer and soon-to-be business partner here at Miss Michele's Tarot, tagged me with a meme. You know that's love.

The idea is to share seven random or weird things about yourself. Here are the rules as Wynter posted them:

1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share seven random and/or weird things about yourself.
3. Tag five people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Since this is a tarot blog, I decided to add a twist. Miss Michele will draw seven cards and use the inspiration behind that card to come up with an odd fact to share.

Let's see how this goes:

1. Ace of Swords... I'm going to share a funny random story about myself for this one. When we first moved into our current place, the cable guys arrived to hook up our modem, cable and phone lines. Since we were still in the process of moving in, we had random thing scattered all over the place. Including several realistic-looking paintball markers and a few swords in my husband's collection. (Including one that is made of wood.)

Our paintball tank is also parked in the driveway. One guy asks "Is that tank real?"
"Real?" I ask, unsure how to answer. It's not virtual, of course, generated by holographic technology. But nor is it "real," as in manufactured from steel. (And I would think this would be pretty obvious looking at it!)

We walk down the hallway to the spare room to install the cable modem. Now, I'm in the house alone with these two guys in the middle of the workday and I catch them scoping the placing out. The same one who asked about the tank notes the swords leaning against the wall in the hallway and goes, "Wow, are those real?"

"Yes," I say.

"Are they sharp?"

"Yes," I say.

"Wow," he says. They continue their work until he sees the paintball guns on the floor.

My response to the inevitable question: "The tank is real, the swords are sharp, the real guns are still packed up. Any other questions?"

2. Wow... didn't that first answer cover it all? Ah, more swords... this time, the Ten of Swords. Since this is the card of illness and possible surgery, here's my deep dark secret. I am terrified of doctors. Wrap a blood pressure machine around my arm and my blood pressure spikes automatically. I'm not sure where this came from. Perhaps from being an overweight child and picked on by an overweight doctor but never given any real *solutions* for weight loss, other than, "eat more chicken and fish," to which I would reply: "I don't like fish."

Until a few years ago, I was also terrified of scales.

3. Hmmm... the Five of Pentacles. I don't necessarily see this card, the card of poverty, as describing me at all. So let me turn this around. Two of my favorite books are The Richest Man in Babylon and Rich Dad, Poor Dad. They have helped me keep my finances in order.

4. The Ace of Cups. I'm going to go for the mundane here: I collect coffee mugs. I have one from almost every state I've visited, except Utah. One day, I plan to go back and finally pick up a mug. I don't know why I never have.

5. The Wheel of Fortune. Okay, here's something I can work with. I don't believe in luck. You make your own luck through hard work. I really resent it when I come across something fortunate, such as a new writing gig, and someone says, "Wow, you're so lucky." No. I work hard and eventually (sometimes) good things come to fruition.

6. Queen of Pentacles This card, as depicted in the Hanson-Roberts deck, is the card that I always think of as myself, so it's fitting that it should come up. I hope to have a friend do a cartoon depiction of me as the Queen of Pentacles once Stacey and I revamp the site to reflect our partnership!

7. And... the Star... Since this is the card of intuition and psychic matters, I'm going to use this card to share a bit about how the Tarot works, according to Miss Michele (and only according to Miss Michele).

The Tarot is a combination of learning card meanings by rote and relying on intuition. I keep in my brain several alternate meanings for each of the cards, and trust that the Tarot will lead me to the right definition at the right time. Every so often, I hear "whispers" in my mind that offer greater insight into the reading. Some people are easier to read for than others and, when I read for certain people, I can pretty much 'hear' the Tarot whispering the truth in my mind.

When a reading is "incorrect," it is because I have misinterpreted the cards--not because the cards themselves were wrong. This sometimes happens when I have bad news to deliver and try to sugar coat it. I am getting better about simply revealing the truth at the cards share it with me, even if it is not what the person wants to hear.

After all that, I have no idea who I'd like to tag. Come back later to see if you're "it."

Rebecca's Relationship Question

Miss Michele admits, I did a throw yesterday for this question, with my Moon Garden deck. It didn't "feel" right. I have done so many readings for you, it appears you have your own deck in my collection; the Hanson-Roberts works best for the connection between us.

It would seem, however, your gut instincts are correct... the relationship in its current form is not working. The past shows the Ace of Swords, a card of strength and powerful intellect. You made a strong connection with this person, and the relationship started off strong... more as an intellectual connection than "true love" however. You may have also both spent so much time analyzing the negative points of the relationship and the challenges ahead that you blocked "the good stuff."

The near future shows your state of mine, in the Nine of Swords. With all the turmoil in your life right now, your relationship is just another thing adding to your sleepless nights! Additionally, your worries may not be as bad as they seem. (Across the board.)

Before looking at the Final Outcome, Miss Michele drew another card, signifying "Advice." Miss Michele knows what *she* wants to suggest, but this is a tarot reading, not counseling. :) The Tarot's Advice comes in the form of the Major Arcana, the Star. While the three minor arcana in the initial reading would indicate the choice is entirely in your hands, the Star is supporting this assertion: Trust your instincts. If you think this isn't going anywhere, change it! The cards don't seem to be saying dismiss it entirely, but the current course of action is not working.

The final outcome, if you don't make any changes, according to the tarot, is the Five of Cups, the card of emotional poverty. However, while it may look bad--you may be disappointed from the loss, or unhappy and emotionally unfulfilled if you stay, all is not lost. We must release the bad in our life to make way for new, better opportunities. (As you know well!) Allow yourself to feel the grief over the loss of this relationship, but know that better things are on the horizon.

Full Speed Ahead!

The card for today is the Eight of Wands, one of my favorite throws to indicate progress and success!

I see multiple interpretations in today's card. I just returned home from a bike ride. With the wind whipping through my hair, heart pumping, legs on fire, I felt absolutely great! My bicycle (which, at this point, I realized, is worth more than my car!) is a lightweight road bike designed for speed, and that's exactly what I experienced.

I returned to my home office revitalized and ready to work.

I've been fairly productive all day so far and have a few articles to wrap up before it's time to change my clothes and get ready to attend a high school play. If I can keep up this energy level through the evening, this will be a perfect day. Full speed ahead, indeed!

Nine of Swords, Not a Good Day for Miss Michele

I started out today's card of the day reading with a straightforward question: Will I be successful in completing some of my work today?

The forecast is not good, but certainly reflects my mood. I've had a bad case of the "blahs" since Sunday afternoon. I'm not sure why. It could be because the temperature plummeted from mid-60s on Saturday to 40s on Sunday, and it's been quite overcast. I am so done with this weather! I want spring, nay, SUMMER, already!

The card of the day is the Nine of Swords, the Nightmare card. This doesn't portend the disaster that it could, it simply means I will have an unproductive day... unless I take action to change that.

I need to stop letting my worries about completing my work, well, stop me from completing my work. Makes sense, doesn't it?

I need to clear off my desk and apply some good old-fashioned BIC (Butt-in-Chair) exercises if I have any hope of catching up.

I asked the Tarot for some advice on how best to do this. I drew The Lovers. Simply make a decision, and do it. Choose which project to tackle, forget about the rest, and move forward. Sounds easy enough, right?

Four of Wands

Let's see what the cards have to say, Stephanie. That should be enough information to give you some insight into your situation. But Miss Michele is wondering who offered the recommendation. Can you say?

Unsettled, indeed!! The first card, in the past, is the Three of Swords. This card typical indicates a romantic break-up, but it can also indicate another great loss--children leaving for college (empty nest syndrome), loss of a job, family, best friend... perhaps a move that has taken you away from family, friends and everything you love? Whatever the specifics of the situation, the emotions are running strong. You've hit rock bottom with this somewhat unexpected change. Even if you saw it coming, it was worse than you imagined it would be.

The next card, the Nine of Pentacles, shows your need to be self-reliant now. At the same time, you are trying to get in touch with your nurturing side again--with no one left to nurture. However, you WILL find peace and will realize you CAN make it alone. Changing your personal space, with home renovations (however small) can help. You may also be undergoing a professional endeavor where you are working for yourself and doing very well...but that doesn't alleviate the loneliness.

The Final Outcome, I'm sorry to say, shows more of the same for a while... the Two of Swords shows you are at an impasse. A reconciliation may be possible, but first, you
must remove the blindfold from your eyes and see the truth. Accept things as what they are, not what you wish they could be, and you will be free to move forward. A truce *is* possible, but you must first face the storm. You have a very nurturing soft side, don't be afraid to let it out right now. Yes, that has hurt you in the past, but it's worth the risk. 2008 Quarterly Update

Back on December 28, 2007, Miss Michele did a 13-card reading for 2008. Now that the year is 1/4 of the way over (can you believe it's spring already?) let's look back and see how she's done so far...

The year begins with the Three of Pentacles, an emphasis on work and learning in January. This card shows a financial endeavor off to a good start. With new bookkeeping and tracking software and a clear vision and goals for 2008, this card makes a lot of sense already. Miss Michele may also undertake a small home renovation project, such as painting.

Miss Michele had a very productive month in January, so it's safe to say this reading was true. Except for the home renovation--that may have been wishful thinking!

February's card warns Miss Michele to rest or she will once again fall ill. The Ten of Swords indicates forced rest or illness, as well as the possibility of a friend's betrayal, which will, in turn, make me extremely weary and tired, and perhaps even physically ill.

This card scared Miss Michele when she pulled it back in December. She got the impression the illness would be more serious than a cold or flu. Well, she discovered on January 30 that she was pregnant. Most of February was spent lying on the couch with the laptop, fighting off queasiness and fatigue. Everything was an effort... easily, the worst this tarot reader has ever felt!

Things get better in March with the Two of Cups. Either I will reconcile with the friend from February, or things will get a lot better in terms of career and business partnerships. Things with RECON may begin to come to fruition in terms of profitability as we complete our third issue under new ownership. This one will be on time and as close to perfect as three people can make a magazine!

This month's card came true on both counts. Admittedly, I knew in December I was having issues with a close friend. Through a series of e-mails and a few phone discussions, we finally cleared things up in March. Also, around March 20, morning sickness subsided and I started to feel better.

Let's skip ahead to October... with an odd little card that Miss Michele wasn't sure how to interpret at the time:

October brings the Page of Cups. Could indicate news of a birth or a wedding.

This card confused me at the time of the reading, but this one little sentence may have been my most accurate reading to date! My estimated due date is October 2.

Is Marriage in the Cards?

OrganizedWriter asks: I have a feeling I may see some new developments on the relationship front. Is my boyfriend planning to propose soon?

The past, or heart of the matter, shows a card that clearly represents the boyfriend--a stable force in OrganizedWriter's life, who has been there for quite a while. The King of Pentacles provides financial security, and may also indicate that boyfriend has been saving for a ring...he's doing this the smart way!

This card also indicates positive changes regarding organization, business plans, and devotion to entrepreneurship going on in Organized Writer's life. She may have recently undergone a self-improvement program--okay, Miss Michele *knows* she has--that is bringing financial and business success.

We often find that when we make improvements in our life, taking matters into our own hands, it comes to pass that we get what we need and want from others, as well. This is the situation here!

The near future shows the Six of Cups, a card often indicating "the good old days." In this case, what OrganizedWriter wants is not her *own* past, per se, but a typical happy family unit, complete with marriage and possibly even more kids. It will happen... actually, it IS happening...but not with the conventional symbols (ie, proposal and marriage) just yet.

The Nine of Pentacles in the Final Outcome supports the tarot's assertion that a pregnancy/new child could be in the future. The Nine of Pentacles is the card of fertility. It also represents newfound self-sufficiency, which is what OrganizedWriter is experiencing right now. Emphasis seems to be on business and finance. I would say financial obstacles may be blocking the proposal at this moment, but it will happen when the stars align and the timing is right.

First, Miss Michele apologizes for the lateness of this response. I hope things have already started looking up for you. Let's see what the tarot has to say.

The card in the past, the Nine of Swords, definitely indicates "freakiness." More specifically, sleepless nights, anxiety, endless worries.

But two court cards indicate things will get better. Court cards, especially kings and queens, often indicate mentors who will step in and help the querent.

The near future brings the King of Rods. You will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with many very different people. An older, more mature man may offer much-needed advice or a way out. If the cause of your distress is a disagreement with a person or group of people, you will be able to see their point of view and reach a diplomatic arrangement.

Three minor arcana in this reading tell us that the situation is entirely in your hands... whether by omission, commission or simply manifestation, you have created this situation. Go inside yourself and figure out how... the answers on how to get out of it will come to you, as well.

The possible outcome is shown in the Queen of Rods. The King's counterpart, the Queen of Rods is a well-organized career woman capable of balancing work and family. Seek balance in your life and your situation will improve. Similarly, an older, wiser woman will offer advice to get you past these hurdles and open new doors of opportunity for you. Be assertive to get what you want, but also understanding. Avoid debating like a steamroller. Look at both sides of every situation.

The first card, the King of Pentacles, shows your past. You have built a strong financial foundation for future endeavors. Your partner is ready to become a protector and provider (or perhaps expand that role).

The King of Swords, in the near future, shows unconventional methods. You may be dealing with overbearing professionals and seeking "a better way" to do things. The tarot warns to get in touch with your feelings. There's a lot going on in your life, a lot of preparations to be made and, on top of it all, there may have been a new job, responsibilities or promotion. Take time for yourself, meditation, and exercise!

The Outcome, the Chariot, shows a major move in the near future. Through it all, remember that you are in control... People may be offering advice, "wisdom" and even old wives' tales. Follow your heart. Stay centered and calm. You know what you need to do, go after it and don't listen to those who tell you different.

TJWriter, knowing the good news you received, it was challenging to make sense of this combination of cards as it relates to that. I can't help but think you're facing challenges with doctors--or maybe just insurance companies--or overbearing relatives trying to tell you what is best. The Chariot is saying choose your own path. Miss Michele must apologize for her lengthy absence. She noted two interesting, consecutive cards of the day, the Two and Three of Cups, as a shift away from the career focus and on to emotions.

Miss Michele was half right. She discovered, the day after she drew the Three of Cups, that she's pregnant. It's been tough fighting fatigue and keeping up with her daily work.

Today's card of the day is the Eight of Rods. Things are moving full speed ahead, once again, related not to health, family or emotions, but career. Today marks a turning point where I will start exercising to keep my energy up and try eating healthier.

And, of course, I will continue to throw Daily Cards and provide free, three-card spreads to faithful readers!

"About" Tina

I'd love a three card reading, mainly to focus on my writing projects. I've about.com prep running from 2-1 to 2-18. I'm worried and seeking insight.

The tarot is advising that focus is the key.

The Heart of the Matter shows the Ten of Swords. This card indicates sheer exhaustion and possibly even physical pain. You may have given up other projects in the hopes of becoming an About.com guide... and now you feel as if there's no turning back. What's worse, you feel as if you're not getting any support, not having your questions answered, and have no idea what your Guide thinks of your work. Still you felt as if this promise of steady money was your only choice. You want "in" with a need that is close to desperation.

The Tarot's advice manifests in the Three of Swords. Let go of what is not working. Cut loose projects that aren't providing emotional fulfillment. Focus your current energies on About.com if that is what you truly want. If you have doubts, however, don't do it.

The Ten of Swords and Three of Swords combine to tell me that something significant in your past happened and you are having trouble letting go of it. You won't be able to focus fully on your About training and freelance career until you do so.

Note: Thinking, "Wow, Confused and Undone is the perfect name for your blog based on this reading," I checked it out. I didn't know you applied to be the Guide for Chronic Pain... but the cards did. Also, that you're sick going into prep! The Ten of Swords frequently shows pain, surgery, etc., which applies to this situation to a tee, and allows me to make better sense of the cards.

The final card, the Seven of Cups, shows a much brighter outlook. The three minor arcana show it's all in your hands. You'll be able to work through your illness to complete prep. However, halfway through, you'll begin to wonder if it's what you really want.

The answer is clear, if you want it, it's yours for the taking. Merely focus on your wishes and they will come true. The danger is in being unfocused, scatterbrained, throughout prep. Stay organized and focused and it will all be fine.

The issue lies in the self-doubt. Do you even want the position? Will you be able to do it, on top of your other new job? Only you know the answer in that regard.

A Move for Rebecca?

Hi again, Miss Michele :-), I'm addicted to your readings. I've got a whole new query and I'd love to hear what your cards have to say.

I recently began contemplating an interesting move. It would only be a few blocks away, into the house my mother is about to leave. I'm far from completely decided, would it be a wise move? Does it make sense to sell the house I am currently in?

Miss Michele did a three-card spread for Rebecca, and the cards are pretty clear cut! It is entirely Rebecca's choice, but the Tarot shows that if she makes the move, it will be a straightforward, profitable business deal and will go smoothly!

The past, or heart of the matter, is represented by the Six of Pentacles. Rebecca is being given an equitable deal, which would help both herself and her mother. She has the opportunity to "tip the scales" in her favor, financially... but is undecided.

The Ace of Pentacles in the near future, shows, quite literally, a hand offering a coin. The Tarot is telling Rebecca to take this deal! She'll be offered what her house is worth, and the transaction will go well. Rebecca will get everything she needs to make the deal go smoothly.

The Ace of Wands in the outcome show that things will move quickly. The dual Aces in this reading show this is a big opportunity in Rebecca's life that she would be wise to take. The new house may have better Feng Shui and energy than her current dwelling; creativity will thrive there.

Lots of Activity for Auria

Auria Cortes is taking advantage of the last four days of the New Year Spread sale.

It will be a balanced year, with lots of action and activity in the areas of career and learning. As is a Universal theme this year, things will get done for Auria--not considered, not planned, but accomplished!

Miss Michele is struck by one particular card in this reading, the Devil in July. For some reason, this card resonated with Miss Michele from the second she pulled it. She double-checked Auria's blog, because, although she didn't know why, she had a feeling this card had a very different meaning from the standard interpretation, and the answer might be found there.

The working title of Auria's book is The Devil's Playground. This fact was buried deep in Miss Michele's subconscious. Looking at the card surrounding it, Miss Michele is going to jump ahead and say Auria will complete her novel in July.

But let's start at the beginning.

January - It's been a month of rapid, unexpected change for Auria, exemplified by the Ace of Swords. 2008 is a significant year for many people; more so than any other year in recent history, there was a marked change in the Universe's energy from 2007 to 2008. People around me have seen it... I've never witnessed so many people sticking to their New Year's Resolutions!

This same energy is strong in Auria's life this year, and it all started with the Ace of Swords, a struggle to start a new project or switch directions (quite unexpectedly) on an existing endeavor.

February - The launch in January leads, not surprisingly, to new opportunities and new responsibilities, with the Knight of Pentacles. Knights can represent, quite literally, a person coming into your life to spark this change, or the end of a long-term condition to enter the new phase of a journey.

March - March brings Auria with an important choice to make in her life. The lack of cups in the reading tells Miss Michele this is not related to love, but in the overall way Auria lives her life and makes her income. Her very political, moral and sociological beliefs may be called into question, and she will have to either defend or deny everything she has stood for in her life.

April - April's card, the Seven of Wands supports the Lover's meaning, and, following 6 to 7, shows the continuation of this cycle. Auria may find herself battling with colleagues or co-workers, but it won't be for naught. She will come out a changed woman.

May - In May, she emerges from the fight battle-scarred but stronger for it, shown by the Nine of Wands. Victorious, in fact, for the moment. But the cause of the fight (and Miss Michele wants to say this fight is an ongoing feud with someone very close to Auria) still haunts.

June - Auria is haunted because there's something she's still not seeing about the situation, represented in the haunting 8 of Swords card. The powerful image depicts a woman bound and blindfolded. Auria feels trapped by convention, perhaps by someone who started arguing against her chosen lifestyle in the Spring.

July - In context, now the Devil makes even more sense. The card of debauchery and immorality (or merely that which society frowns upon) Auria will feel tempted to say, "the heck with it all!" and do what she believes is right, go back to what she fought so hard for and follow it through to fruition. As noted earlier, she could reach a major turning point in her novel, either completing or selling the manuscript. If she gets a request from an agent to see the full manuscript, this will mean a lot to Auria (more than any non-writer would understand!)

August - The Six of Pentacles indicates Auria will finally get money, or a raise, she has been waiting for. But money's not that important to Auria--as long as she has enough to live, she's happy. She'll donate to a charity, or donate time to charitable causes, or buy practical but appreciated for those close to her.

September - In September, Auria finds the inner Strength necessary to finally leave all the conflict of the Spring and Summer behind her. She'll forgive those who wronged her and find greater compassion moving forward.

October - October will find Auria busy, juggling multiple projects, shown by the Two of Pentacles. It could indicate she's still on the fence about a major life decision... now is not yet the time to make the move, but weigh all your options and consider the consequences.

November - November will bring happiness and fulfillment, with the only Cup card in this entire spread. The Ten of Cups indicates support from family and close friends, which Auria will need as she exits one phase of her life to enter another.

December - The holidays are a time of learning for Auria, as the Three of Pentacles shows up. She'll be studying to decide on her next phase of life/project, and may even be feeling emptiness after having completed her novel, which took up so much of her life for so long.

The overall theme for the year is shown in the Page of Wands, an active little messenger. This will be the year Auria takes on any challenge, grabs life with both hands, nurtures her creativity and brushes self-doubt aside!

Today's energy, once again, will focus on celebration and relaxation, although I know I want to finish up several projects in order to be able to focus on interviews on Monday.

It makes sense, as I can practically feel the love in the house this weekend--we are just enjoying each other's company, not talking a lot, just liking the chance to be in the same room together on our respective computers.

Today's card happens to be one of Miss Michele's favorites: the Two of Cups. Representing partnerships, cooperation, and romance, this card is perfect for a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Although I have a lot of work to get done, the overall day will be filled with closeness and a good balance of leisure and accomplishment. :) It means my projects will get completed and networking efforts will be successful.

This is a pleasant change from the abundance of recent "work" cards, although I've noticed a shift from Pentacles and Wands to Cups lately.

Knight of Cups, Nine of Swords

Miss Michele didn't have to pull a daily card today... the Tarot did it on its own.

Miss Michele left her Hanson Roberts deck sitting face up on the table and noticed the Nine of Swords on top. She shuffled for the daily draw, and the Knight of Cups fell out.

She tucked him back in and drew a card. Nine of Swords.

She put the card back in the deck, pondered it, and began to start another reading. The first card she drew? Knight of Cups.

These are the cards for today and indicate a new opportunity that Miss Michele's alter ego is afraid to take. She fears the project may lead to sleepless nights and added anxiety if she gets involved. Worse, it could lead to a repeat of certain "character types" from her past.

She'll take this project, but only on her terms.

The Sun, the Stars and a Major Move for Jessi

I'm going to be potentially making a huge move (both in terms of physical location and mental/emotional steps in life) at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year. That's a long way in the future, though, so my focus is about what's going on currently. Is my current planning in line with the big change later? Or maybe rather...."am I on the right path to what I'm striving for?" although that begins to generalize it again. You get the idea, lol.

The Tarot is supporting Jessi's statement of big changes, with two Major Arcana and a Court Card (a King, no less) in this three card reading!

The Sun in the present shows you are setting the stage for this move, you view it as a positive development in your life.

The presence of the Star in the second slot (Near Future) shows that you will begin developing your talents, using your intuition to guide you on your journey. As an 8 card, the Star shows things moving well, completing one stage of a project to move on to the long-term stage. Miss Michele's throw for the day is the Chariot. Yet another Seven, showing I'm in a similar phase, but that things are perhaps, more ready to come to fruition with a significant step in the right direction.

It shows I need the courage and determination to finish the task at hand, and, with completion, will reap rewards in the form of feelings of accomplishment.

I'm still trying to figure out how yesterday's card manifested. My best guess is that by being aware of the day's energies, I was able to avoid battles of wills or stand-offs. Even in situations where I was expecting a fight, things went exceedingly well.

I faced only one situation where pride came in to play, and managed to put my feelings aside to handle the situation in a professional manner.

An Uneasy Feeling

Perhaps it has to do with the stock market and the economic climate, or maybe it's plain old "writerly" doubt, but Miss Michele had an uneasy feeling that things were going too well lately!

The tarot is perfect for pinpointing the source of these intuitive flashes, so Miss Michele asked a targeted question for her daily throw.

"What forces could prevent me from being as successful as I want to be today?"

After multiple cards (all potentially relevant) fell out of the deck, Miss Michele decided she was just being sloppy, stopped, focused, and pulled a card.

This card indicates a battle of wills, pride in action, and competition from unexpected sources. I may realize I am not as good as I think I am (today) or I may simply become overwhelmed by all on my plate and feel like I'm not doing as well as other freelancers in my position.

Today's card is the Three of Wands, indicating the start of a venture, where all the ducks are in a row and the first phase has been completed to great success.

More than the predictive quality of a daily throw, Miss Michele believes the daily card often gets her thinking about themes and trends she's already aware of. If that's the case, today's card could not be more appropriate.

Miss Michele is working today on a fully-loaded G5 PowerMac, property of RECON Magazine. It was more of a challenge than you might think to find a wireless card for the computer, but now that it's installed, the machine gives her a lot more flexibility for a number of products. Best of all, she can switch back to her laptop whenever she wants a change of scenery (ie, kitchen v. home office.)

I just launched two new directions with my writing. I'm entering every contest I can (I'm a semifinalist in the Amazon.com novel contest!) and I've started blogging seriously. I basically need to know if I'm going in the right direction.

Nancy's Career Question

Nancy, who runs an informative writer's blog over at Writerly Stuff, wants to know about her financial state in the new year.

Miss Michele, 2007 was a horrible year, personally and financially. It's the financial part that has me discouraged. Hubby hasn't worked in almost a year, and, well, my job isn't paying enough (especially with living expenses so high). Plus, the company I work for was just recently bought out, so my job isn't too secure (I'll add here that I had to take a fairly big loan on my 401k and needs to be paid back, and that's scaring me even more). I've tinkered with the idea of doing freelancing on a part-time basis, but I'm not sure I have any skills or ideas that someone will pay me for. So...three things: Will I keep my job, or will I have to look for a new one? Should I go into freelancing? Will I bring in enough extra money to pay off the 401k and pay off a major chunk of our credit card debt? Sorry for the ramble. I look forward to your reading - and thank you!

That's a lot for three cards to reveal, so Miss Michele will ask the tarot: "What is in the future, career-wise, for Nancy?"

The cards indicate 2008 will not be as bad as Nancy fears. The card in the past, Strength, is one of Miss Michele's favorite Major Arcanas, showing that Nancy weathered the storm with incredible inner strength. She doesn't realize it, but she has the self-confidence, power, patience and faith to improve her situation. The eight shows the end of a cycle to make way for new growth.

In the Near Future, we see the situation that is ending in the Knight of Swords. Swords show sudden, tumultuous change. New people may be coming into your life with new opportunities. (That's a good thing!) But beware of "quick fixes" for your problems. Don't be tempted by a scam. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Now I'm sure Nancy won't get bamboozled by Publish America, but beware of temptations more subtle that look like a way out of debt.

This card also indicates Nancy's forthrightness. When she wants something, she goes after it, and this will work in her favor.

The Outcome could not be better: The Nine of Cups. The jolly fellow on the "wish card" arrives to tell us that all Nancy's worries will be assuaged. She will get what she needs.

Five of Pentacles, the Magician

Proving that the Tarot is "on" even when the reader isn't, my card for today needed little interpretation. After staying on the phone with a friend for about two hours last night--and losing track of my alcohol intake while I chatted--this morning's throw gave me the Five of Pentacles. I commented to a friend that the guy on the card, with the crutches, bandage on his head and his arm in a sling, described how I felt!

It passed, as those things do, and I drew another card for this evening, as the day was divided by very different and distinct energies. The Magician. I certainly feel as if I'm back to my old self, and got some significant work done on this blog.
I have to interpret the Magician as my "mastery" of limited HTML. I actually got the buttons to go where I wanted them to, and the pics don't look half bad.

I have nothing specific other than "what does this year hold for me?" I have to add that the latter half of last year sucked, though not as hard as some years I've had. Life has been hard up until four years ago.

Overview: In spite of your proclamation to Miss Michele that acclaim is what brings you satisfaction, the cards show a huge emphasis on emotions, and seeking “parent figures,” mentors. Although Miss Michele hates to say it, based on the placement of the cards, your parents *may* be returning into your life, leaving you with a difficult choice to make. Let’s go month by month and see what the Tarot has to say.

January – Five of Cups - Not surprisingly, the Five of Cups starts off the year. This shows a certain emptiness in your life, perhaps still recovering from years of hurt or just starting to show these feelings. Whatever happened in the latter half of the year that “sucked” continues.

February – the Fool – February will bring you out of your doldrums in a *big* way. I see the last half of the year’s events letting go to bring you into a new phase, in which you really let your ‘inner teenager’ out, but with positive consequences, rather than having people view you as immature. July – July brings us the Lovers, another major arcane indicating a choice must be made. The scenario as I see it: your parents come back into your life, you make a choice to either repair or not repair the damage done. (Too much information often clouds the interpretation… )
Alternately, you may have a decision to make about this opportunity… in either event, the decision leaves you…

August – Feeling lonely in August, as the Four of Cups surfaces. Far from your gregarious self this month, you have retreated for careful contemplation. Today's card is the 8 of Pentacles. ::sigh:: A close friend of mine who also reads Tarot interpreted it as I have so much work and am having a hard time staying up-to-date on it. Which is sort of true. I'm keeping my head above water--mostly, and avoiding feeling too overwhelmed.

The focus in my life, however, is just work, work, work.

Which suits me fine for the time being.

The Three of Pentacles is the card of hard work and learning. It's 1 PM and I already feel good about what I've accomplished for the day, so I'm going to stop blogging and continue plugging away.

Love Reading for "Anonymous" Visitor

Please could you shed some light into the situation I have got myself into and if Pete and I will get back together?

Miss Michele threw the standard, three-card, past/near future/outcome spread.

The Five of Wands in the past indicates a battle of wills, one upmanship. Neither of you wants to let go and admit you were wrong.

However, the Eight of Swords came up, reversed, in the near future. It reveals that you will be released from these feelings of pride or possibly guilt. You will be the one who feels free to let go of pride and recognize that love is stronger. You feel as if there's nothing you can do about the situation, but that's not true. Don't let him control what you know is meant to be.

Take a few steps back, try to reach a compromise, look at it from a more balanced, impartial point of view. This is what the Outcome, Justice, is telling us.

The Major Arcana indicates a significant change in the relationship--possibly a reconciliation. Justice will be served, you'll receive what is rightfully yours. The road to reconciliation being with an apology, an attempt to make things right. If you were wronged, you will receive any apology and correction if you open yourself up to it. Is a Reconciliation in the Cards for Miss Natasha?

A new visitor is curious about romance. Miss Natasha (it's a tarot reader thing!) asks: My question is.. Will Steven and I get back together within 6 months?

Miss Michele drew three cards for this reading: Present or Heart of the Matter/Tarot's Advice/Probable Outcome.

The Knight of Pentacles indicates some sort of contact between Miss Natasha and Steven. They are making progress since their break-up. They still view each other as a stable, secure influence in each other's life. They still turn to each other.

The Ten of Rods shows hard work ahead as they work to correct their mistakes from the past. Miss Natasha may grow resentful that she's putting more into their friendship than he is. The card also shows romantic maturity, so there is great potential here.

Finally, the King of Rods in the Outcome indicates that they will learn the ability to compromise and see each other's points of view. From there, a strong relationship could develop and, if it does, it could be filled with passion and mutual attraction, which is what they had in the past.

The Wands in this reading show a very active phase for the next six months between Steven and Miss Natasha, and a huge learning period for their relationship. With no Cups in the reading, Miss Michele is hesitant to read this definitively as them getting back together, romantically, but, at the very least, a very strong friendship will develop.. and it could be more.

The Eight of Cups

Today's card was the Eight of Cups, drawn late last night. After seeing all these Major Arcana, recently, I was glad.

The Eight of Cups seems to say I'm still in that same phase of walking away from things that aren't working for me to embrace those that are. In this case, after a revelation I had last night... I know that I am walking away from my doubts and fears.

Tomorrow's card is, once again and not surprisingly, the Hierophant. I'm going to take this at face value. I need to be disciplined.

A fellow reader over at Aeclectic Tarot interpreted all these 10 of Pents lately as saying that I need to "stop playing with the cards and get back to work."

I suspect that's what the Hierophant is telling me right now, and his message will be the same in the morning.

Also, I could take it quite literally-- I am completing an article about a church installation tomorrow! :)

Yesterday's Hermit, Today's Hierophant

Yesterday's Daily Reading came to fruition early in the day. A phone call jolted me out of my Hermit-like state with a job opportunity.

I had to draw myself out of my shell and negotiate. I'm certain the interviewer found me a bit eccentric but qualified. In the end, I offered to look over the material I'd be editing and see if I could do it within the client's budget. I'll be posting later on about negotiating for writers at Anything That Pays.

Following this phone call, I retreated back into my shell to write, and completed one article, a press release and several product descriptions. A good day, overall.

Today's throw bring us the Hierophant. Male cards has been an ongoing theme in my life lately. What I wouldn't give to see a Star or Queen of Pents lately!

The Hierophant, much like the Hermit, tells me I can expect another quiet day. The Hierophant focuses on moral values, and tells me I should do the right thing, right about what I believe, and finish the projects on my plate. It says more than that, but I'm not comfortable posting it here.

As I shuffled, the Ten of Pents jumped out of the deck. Not only did it jump out, but when I tried to put it back in, it wouldn't go! This card keeps coming up lately... for Mysti moments ago, several times during my on-air readings... I feel like it's telling me this is the year that TJ and I will enjoy stability and strong family grounding, financial security, and begin moving forward. I love the look of the happy family on this card... I feel like today will be a significant day in that regard... spending time together, getting things done around the house, writing...

Mysti Linn Posts a Quick Question

Faithful reader Mysti Linn poses a question for the tarot: "Is "By The Fire" the way I should go?"

A three-card spread of The Heart of the Matter, Advice, and Outcome should give Mysti some insight.

The first card, the Heart of the Matter, is the Ten of Pentacles. This project has the potential to give Mysti financial security, enough time with her family, and plenty of cash, but Mysti is concerned that may not be the case. The Pentacles are associated with Earth... Mysti hopes this project will give here some grounding.

The Advice is represented by the King of Swords... The tarot is telling Mysti she should behave as this Court Card would in this situation... analyze all the facts, look before you leap, use your head. Should you decide to take this project, take control as a strong leader, don't allow others to influence your views too much.

The Outcome is represented by the Five of Wands, the Fire element, which relates to the name of the project. You'll face an exciting challenge if you do this. There may be others who believe they know the best way--stick to your guns (re: King of Swords). If you do take over the project, be careful. You *may* be taking on too much and will, literally, burn yourself out. This is a fear Mysti's has mentioned in the past and seems to be a recurring them in her professional life. It could happen again. In relation to the Five of Wands, I'd say the King of Swords is warning you to consider this VERY carefully.

However, all minor arcana in the reading tell us a very important thing: it's YOUR decision, 100 percent, no one will influence it or present new information that causes you to change your mind. Whether you do or don't take this on, the results won't be earth-shattering. If it doesn't work out, you can withdraw with little consequences and move on.

Interesting... Miss Michele drew a clarification card asking the tarot simply: Yes or No, should she do this.

The Wish card came up, the Nine of Cups. We have a balance of all four suites here... which shows that this decision won't influence any one area of your life greatly. You won't get rich--or poor. You won't get emotionally burnt out. It really seems as if you have nothing to lose, and the tarot, with the Nine of Cups, seems to be saying, "Do what you think is best, you'll be fine." (Note I did not say "feel is best." There were no "intuition" cards in this reading... the Tarot is saying look at the facts, the spreadsheets, and your time, and make a wise decision based on that information).

How Am I Doing?

On her blog, Mysti Linn has given a mid-month update on the tarot reading Miss Michele did for her at the start of the New Year.

Miss Michele thinks it's about time to do the same. In my 12-month Horoscope Spread, I wrote:

The year begins with the Three of Pentacles, an emphasis on work and learning in January. This card shows a financial endeavor off to a good start. With new bookkeeping and tracking software and a clear vision and goals for 2008, this card makes a lot of sense already. Miss Michele may also undertake a small home renovation project, such as painting.

Just yesterday, I entered negotiations for two regular freelance jobs. Stay tuned to Anything That Paysas these positions come to fruition. One project would, indeed, involve learning about new topics and niche markets, while another involves learning even more about a field I already write in.

Finally, RECON will go to the printer sometime within the next week or so, and I believe we'll be doing well with finances related to the magazine. Money from newsstand sales of our Fall issue should be coming in soon.

And now, a card for the day: The Hermit.

Considering yesterday was a completely social day, with networking, phone calls and interviews, today will be a quiet day where I can relax and write. That's what I was expecting and, according to the tarot, that's what will be so.

Chakra Reading

Miss Michele attended a tarot reader herself on December 30. The reading, for the most part, was on the money. She said, however, that my Chakras are unbalanced. I did a bit of reading on the subject and still find it about as clear as pea soup.

But I came across a Chakra reading in Power Tarot the other day, so I decided to see if that would offer some insight into *which* Chakras were unbalanced.

For sure.

The Root Chakra, which represents my energy level and sense of self-preservation is represented by the Fool. This manifested itself today in business negotiations. I am so unsure of myself, so ungrounded, that I continually sell myself short in business dealings. I have energy. This was not the case last week, or at the time of the reading, so I wonder what the cards may have said then? Anyway, my energy is often misdirected and scattered. I have so much work in this area!

The Spleen Chakra, representing sexuality and nurturing, came up as the Five of Swords. Quite curious. There are many, many cards I would consciously select to represent my sexuality. Not this one. But it makes sense. I have a certain rivalry going on and it needs to end. It gets to be about what I want and what is best for me and when I release this negative energy, things will get even better than I could have imagined!

The Solar Plexus chakra, the ego and how I use my energies, along with digestive functions, show no problems at all. The Eight of Pentacles, the work card, shows exactly where I'm directing my energy right now, and, in a lot of ways, "freelance writer" is my identity, my ego, if you will.

The Heart Chakra, too, is functioning properly. The Ace of Cups shows my open, welcoming, nurturing heart. It also shows how many new friends I've met recently, and I've opened my heart to them without issue. But that's me.

Throat chakra represents communication, a key for me... The Six of Swords here is not a surprise... because my writer's block is over and communications issues *are* going well at the moment, however, the shadow of what I went through in regard to writing--and people listening to me--is still lurking in the background. I had huge communications issues in the past, but that influence is passing out of my life now.

The Four of Wands represents my Third-Eye Chakra, my intuition. In this case, I am enjoying success based on my intuition--the growth of Miss Michele's Tarot Readings. Could also represent a possible partnership related to psychic ability in the near future.

Finally, the Crown Chakra is represented by the Three of Wands-- the universe has me set up for a new opportunity that will involve cooperation with others. Several projects come to mind. This card tells me I work better as part of a team, albeit, not a *large* team. I am good in writer/editor relationships, whichever side I'm on. There are THREE partners involved in my business...this is a good number for me.

So all in all, the cards are telling me that I need to stop competing to in areas of sensuality and sexuality, and that I am ungrounded at the moment. There could also be an imbalance because I am investing so much of who I am into my work as a freelance writer/editor.

What to do? I'll focus on improving these areas, and do another Chakra reading in a month to evaluate my progress.

Estate Guidance

Miss Michele has been feeling called to her old Rider Waite deck lately, so she is pulling it out for a three-card reading for Siddow. The business-like plaid pattern on the back of the cards, coupled with the straightforward imagery, seems to fit for a question regarding law.

Can I get another three-card freebie? I'm in a situation with my stepmother over my father's estate, and I don't know whether I should sit tight or lawyer up.

Overall, the spread shows that you have tried your best to approach the situation with caring and understanding. Cups, not Pentacles, show up. This shows that the dispute is less about the material aspects, but the principle of it. How your stepmother is making you feel. As if she is someone trying to sully your image and memories of your father. I'm very sorry that she's putting you through this. Miss Michele can't even imagine how hard it must be, especially with you being such a good person through it.

The Chariot came up to show the past. You have tried to take the reigns of the situation and, until now, have maintained control. The Eight of Cupssnuck in behind the Chariot, adding further clarity. Someone is trying to pull something over on you--but you probably already knew this!

I meditated on the card in the near future, the Sun card. In three card spreads, Miss Michele often likes to think of the near future card as advice the tarot is offering. That is the situation here. Coupled with the Chariot, the Tarot is saying, Step away from the situation for the moment. Take a chance to cool down and relax. It could be a literal vacation, or just a day of R&R at home.

The King of Cups in the outcome *could* indicate a lawyer. But the lawyer would be compassionate, more of a mediator than anything else. However, the King of Cups also represents diplomacy, generosity and maintaining your calm. You will emerge the better individual in this, and get what you want. By drawing on the memories and strength of your father, you will find a diplomatic solution to the situation. It may require compromise, but you will come out ahead in the end.

Tarot Insight

The day is nearly over. Although I've got at least six hours of transcription and writing ahead of me, I don't think it pays to draw a tarot card for the day. Anything it can tell me, I already know.

The radio show over at RadioX went really well. Miss Michele had a few dear friends stop by, did some three-card readings for listeners, and everyone seemed happy with what the cards told them, and the validity of the readings.

After the show, a friend did a reading for me and it gave me great insight into my current situation. The details are too personal to print, but that is really what the tarot is about. Gaining insight.

The future is not set in stone. We make our own destiny, as all the disclaimers point out. But sometimes, a certain card, especially one that, at first glance, seems to make no sense, helps us look at things from a different perspective, to see influential factors we didn't even realize were there, or to see connections between situations that, on the surface, don't seem connected at all.

I am going to select a card for today. But I'm not going to pull it out of the deck.

It is the Hanged Man, again... the ability to see things in new ways. Sometimes, insight takes time, and I'm gaining greater clarity each day. The Hanged Man is also a card of waiting for the right time. And that, too, is appropriate right now.

Also, I'm not so scared of the Tower anymore, so that's progress, right?

Miss Michele Tries a Little Self-Promotion

At the start of the year, Mysti took advantage of a year-long overview reading from Miss Michele. She posted an assessment of the reading on her own blog. The comments are particularly interesting because of Mysti's knowledge of numerology. Check it out and decide if you'd like your own 13-card year-long spread!

Although the day is half over, Miss Michele is pulling a card for the day... The Hanged Man. This shows significance as a Major Arcana... I am finally seeing my writing from a new perspective. I can't go into details here, but I had one of those a-ha moments... not a Tower moment, but seeing things from a totally new perspective and feeling a lot better about my career following this change in perspective. Negative influences are passing from my life because I have released the status quo. :)

I'm also, quite literally, waiting for something exciting! Miss Michele will be on the air tonight as a guest of John Ale at Radio X.

What many readers may not know is that Miss Michele was "born," years ago, on John Ale's blog. In fact, it was while speaking with the radio show host that I decided to re-launch the persona on my own blog.

"Looking for Peace" May Find It

Another AW member has found their way to Miss Michele’s Tarot Blog and wants to know what path their career should take…

Looking for Peace writes: I have a HUGE decision to make and it's wearing me down. I want to leave my soul-sucking (but well compensated) corporate communications job and try my hand at freelance writing, but I worry if this is the right move for me/my family. Financially we'll be ok for a year, but frankly, I'm scared/worried that I'll fail miserably and end up looking for another corporate job - and I won't find one that pays as well as the one I'm thinking of leaving. Staying part-time isn't an option - it's all or nothing. I'll be more at peace once my decision's made. What do the cards show?

As a writer, Miss Michele would recommend testing the freelance waters while working full-time. Put in a few hours a week after work or on weekends and try to line up some clients.
As a corporate communications writer, you have experience and presumably, some clips, so you’ll have a leg up on others just getting started.
Before you consider working from home, ask yourself: are you self-motivated, disciplined, or are you overly social (ie, will working from home, with a lot less person-to-person interaction, drive you crazy, or do you thrive in a quiet environment?)

But that’s just Miss Michele’s two cents. Let’s see what the tarot have to say about your chances of success in freelance writing…

Two deception cards came up in this reading, however, with two Knights present, a new career opportunity is certainly in the off-ing. I want to say that those at your current job will “connive” or bribe or promise you things to get you to stay.

Card by Card:

The Seven of Swords is the card of stealth and deception. Showing a man slinking away with five swords, while the other two are firmly embedded in the ground, it indicates using cunning to get what you want—or that someone is using this against you. You’ve admitted that your current company is soul-sucking… they are, quite literally, slinking away with the best of you!

The Knight of Wands in the Near Future shows an escape from difficulty. Change is in the air and things will work out well. Even if you do wind up taking a lower paying job after trying freelancing (which I don’t think will be the case), you’ll be happier in the long run.

The Knight of Cups in the outcome came out, but reversed. While upright it symbolizes a new relationship or career, it shows deception when it is reversed. Don’t be passive—follow your heart and stand up for yourself, regardless of what your current employers offer. If you want to leave, do it. But don't let this company keep getting the best of you. Things will work out whatever your choice.

Cyclops Sees Good Things in the New Year

Cyclops took advantage of Miss Michele’s New Year’s Special for his 13-card reading. It is going to be an interesting, yet balanced, and overall positive year for Cyclops as he grows, learns and then is rewarded with some fun times!

Overview:
Card 13 gives us the Page of Rods, showing a year of new opportunities and good news across the board.
An overview of the spread shows a good balance of Pentacles, Cups, and Swords, meaning there will be balance between change and opportunities, finance, work and learning, and relationships/fun. A plethora of Pentacles in the first half of the year shows a focus on money-making, learning and study, setting the stage for a fun, relaxed second half, where Cyclops can focus on personal relationships.

January – Ace of Pentacles – A new business or wealth-building opportunity will show up in January, if it hasn’t already (and Miss Michele has inside information that it may have!) There will be further opportunities for Cyclops to exercise his creativity, as well.

February – Hermit – This month will be quiet. The querent should take the time to plan his next move, meditate, contemplate and rest. Don't rush into any of the new opportunities yet... consider all angles, ask others for advice, keep learning, but mostly, trust your gut.

Because things are going to explode in …

March, with the 10 of Pentacles. It will be a time for activity and travel, and he’ll have the money to do it, and do it right. With all this activity, he will be building a strong foundation for the future, in his paintball activities with his team, family relationships, and his career.

April – 8 of Pentacles – This brings hard work and study. The financial benefits and security from March won’t come without a price, he’ll have to study even more to pay back what he was given in March. But people are trusting that he *will* pay it back, so they are giving it to him before he even delivers. He should be careful with money management in April, although things were good in March, he shouldn’t squander it.

May – Knight of Cups – This card brings a shift from the tangible (Pentacles) to feelings and emotions. May will bring a new social experience, possibly a new love. Of course, when you’re not paying attention to it, that’s when these things happen. There will be an emphasis on fun and passion.

June – King of Swords – Cyclops may be afraid to take the leap into this new romance. He becomes overly rational, almost cold, which is not like him, at all. This new love will scare him, perhaps because it’s not what he expected to happen, romantically.

July – Sun – By July, these feelings will pass and Cyclops will be feeling more like himself. There will be a focus on vacation, fun times. Whatever was trouble him or closing him off emotionally in June, he will be ready to throw caution to the wind, let loose and have fun in July.

October – Five of Swords – Be on guard for people trying to bring you down because of their own jealousy. They will spread gossip, make you look bad, and if you stoop to their level, although you may win, you will lose because that's not the type of person you are.

November – Two of Cups – You may re-unite with an old love or someone from your past, and this time, things will be much better as you find balance in your relationship. You’ll also find balance between money/career, romance and fun. The year will bring you to extremes of each side, but, toward the end, you will better learn how to balance it all.

The Page of Cups hitched a ride on the Hanged Man to show itself, and that signifies the birth of new emotions. New Deck, New Day, New Card

When no "tower moments" occurred yesterday, Miss Michele breathed a sigh of relief and did some readings to help her get to know her new Tarot of a Moon Garden deck, which she absolutely loves.

She's been using the Hanson-Roberts deck so often it feels like it's getting "stale," so she's put it on vacation.

The Tarot of a Moon Garden deck gave her the Eight of Pentacles today--the Work Card. Self-explanatory and makes sense. Her alter ego has already completed one article and is on the way to making another deadline, not due until Jan. 10, so we're ahead of the game.

Two cards, many thoughts

Shuffling her Hanson-Roberts deck with an eye on choosing a card for the day, The Tower caught Miss Michele's eye.

Miss Michele hates this card. It's her least favorite in the deck, as it signifies surprises--and rarely good ones! I shuffled more and drew a card from the center of the deck.

The Tower. Sigh.

With the state of mind I've been in, however, a shake-up that destroys the status quo could be just what I need. Nothing is *wrong*. Life is fine. I am just feeling sorry for myself for no good reason.

Refusing to accept the Tower for the day, though, and hoping to gain additional insight, I drew a second card.

There's no way around it. Today will be a big day, a turning point of some sort. I'm not sure how or why, but it will be. The Emperor came up. More male energy, more discipline.
A need to adhere to rules, get the job done, and act responsibly. The card also warns against excess (excess play? Sloth?)

Incidentally, fours are related to the sign Aquarius, Miss Michele's sign! Okay, okay, I understand this is "all me" already! :)It's all in my hands.

Still Fighting Myself

This card indicates I am *still* fighting myself. I know what's right, I know what I have to do, and continuously fail to do it. I am so tired of this theme in my life right now.

It also shows the nervous energy I have surrounding me right now.

Introspection for Miss Michele

Miss Michele has neglected herself lately, with readings, so we're going to try to get back on track with daily throws.

Feeling professionally frustrated and disheartened today, I pulled a three-card spread, to gain insight into my feelings, seek advice from the tarot, and determine the most likely outcome.

Two Major Arcanas came up, along with the Nine of Rods, which shows this cycle of depression is ending soon. I'm not sure why there's such a heavy masculine influence in the cards... perhaps I should stop being so girly-whiny lately and blaming hormones on my state of mind?

The Hierophant seems to be precisely the opposite of what I'm feeling right now. It speaks of abstinence, morality, and discipline. But a lack of discipline is exactly what I have. I thought this would be better in the New Year, but it's not! I'm looking for meaning and purpose, and not finding it anywhere.

The Nine of Rods, advice, tells me I have the strength to face this, I just don't realize it. Suck up and get it done, I think the tarot is saying.

If I do, mystical forces, the Magician, will step in and help. My natural writing talent will come through and make it all easier.

This is what I'm meant to be doing. Why can't I just do it?

Amy Takes the Plunge, Will It Be Smelly?

Let's see what the cards have to say about Amy's predicament.

Since this is Amy's first reading--and as a thank you for keeping us all entertained over at Mind Over Mullis--Miss Michele is going for a bit extra with a free five-card reading for Amy.

The card in the past, the High Priestess, gives us insight into Amy's character. An intuitive woman, she has searched her subconscious for answers on whether or not to proceed with this project. Dual swords show up in the Hidden Influences and Advice spots: The Five of Swords tells us that if Amy pursues her desires, she may come out ahead, but it could be an empty victory. She will achieve financial and career success but hurt those close to her.

This is not Amy's fault, however! Those close to her are acting out of jealousy and spite. Deceitful, hurtful influences make this worse than it has to be. It's not as big a deal as they are making it out to be. The tarot gives us a lot of high cards (8s, 9s and 10s) toward the end of the calendar year, telling us that this year will represent the end of a phase and the start of something new for Mysti. With two Pages in the spread, she will receive significant news. Pages, too, support the start of something new. Several cards point to a marriage or proposal on the horizon. Multiple swords and cups in the reading indicate changes in the realm of love, romance and relationships. Overall, the year will focus on family and love developments over money and career, although the Wheel of Fortune, Nine of Cups and Ace of Pentacles tell us Mysti won't be lacking in those areas, either!

January: The year will get better as it goes along, but it won't exactly start on a high note. The Two of Swords indicates a decision Mysti must make, to release the old and make way for a new path to be paved as the year progresses. She feels as if her hands are tied, but is, in fact, closing her eyes to the facts. What is Mysti not seeing about her current situation, which is slowing her progress? February: A new business proposition or opportunity appears for Mysti in February, indicated by the propitious Ace of Pentacles.
Based on the cards surrounding the Ace of Pentacles and the overall theme of the year, February could be a time of enhanced fertility for Mysti and her partner, a good time to conceive if they wish to do so or to simply begin laying the emotional and financial foundation for their family to grow.

March: With the appearance of the Hermit, March becomes a time for introspection for Mysti. She will step back from preparations made and work done in February to carefully consider her next step. While Mysti may feel frustrated that everything is taking too much time--she wants to move forward--this is what is necessary right now.

April: April brings more good things, the final stages of effort before culmination. Work on wrapping things up, not new projects. The Nine of Cups, the "wish card" shows up here, indicating good news. This is one of the many cards pointing to a marriage for Mysti.

August: The entire summer could be a period of mistrust and deception. The Page of Swords, in August, again warns that someone may be lying, or Mysti could be lying to herself. Someone's behavior, perhaps her own, will disappoint. Mysti may overextend herself, or sign a contract she's not sure about. Things may not turn out as Mysti had expected or hoped, but this setback is only paving the way for another new beginning in the fall. This could involve her son and a selected school or educational program.

September: September brings another card of new beginnings, the Ace of Cups. After a rough summer, Mysti will experience emotional renewal in an important relationship. This is another card that supports marriage and/or pregnancy for Mysti in 2008. It could also indicate sending her son off to school and, with that, finding a newfound freedom once again.

October: After this emotional renewal, things are going almost too well, but Mysti feels trapped in her situation. The Eight of Swords shows she is overworked and confused if she has taken the right path. The overall theme for the year, as Miss Michele alluded to earlier, is shown in the Page of Wands. Surrounded as he is by powerful Major Arcana such as the Wheel of Fortune and the World, he tells of a landmark year for Mysti, built on dozens of *small* accomplishments and bits and pieces of good news. Miss Michele's Horoscope Spread

Miss Michele is doing a Horoscope Spread for 2008. At the beginning and end of each month, we will look back and see how the trends and themes indicated in the tarot manifested themselves in that month.

The year begins with the Three of Pentacles, an emphasis on work and learning in January. This card shows a financial endeavor off to a good start. With new bookkeeping and tracking software and a clear vision and goals for 2008, this card makes a lot of sense already. Miss Michele may also undertake a small home renovation project, such as painting.

February's card warns Miss Michele to rest or she will once again fall ill. The Ten of Swords indicates forced rest or illness, as well as the possibility of a friend's betrayal, which will, in turn, make me extremely weary and tired, and perhaps even physically ill.

Things get better in March with the Two of Cups. Either I will reconcile with the friend from February, or things will get a lot better in terms of career and business partnerships. Things with RECON may begin to come to fruition in terms of profitability as we complete our third issue under new ownership. This one will be on time and as close to perfect as three people can make a magazine!

The Four of Swords, in April, indicates yet another need for rest. I should take it easy in regard to paintball as the season launches. Spring is a time for renewal, and I will start to feel overwhelmed before the paintball season even gets into full swing. I'll be longing for a vacation. Will it come? It looks like it will, as I drew the clarification card of The Chariot.

May brings still more travel, as the Six of Swords figures prominently. I say prominently because this is always a strong card for me, and indicates travel for business and also an escape from worry. I will be leaving behind the stress of April--things will not be as bad as I imagined. I can handle it all!

June brings the Major Arcana, Judgment. This is a scary card, as it heralds a major choice to make and a new life direction. My inner conflicts regarding my work will disappear and I will be presented with new opportunities. I will be given the chance to reinvent myself. I will also receive long overdue payments.

The Queen of Cups in July warns me to trust my intuition, perhaps in regard to decisions made in June. Coming as it does in the heart of the summer, and the paintball season, I don't know what to make of this.

The Two of Rods, in August, reveals yet another business opportunity, and perhaps a move. Last August we were pretty sure we were going to be moving to Salt Lake City, and that never came to fruition. What will take place this year? I will be frustrated by waiting...things are in progress, but not moving rapidly enough.

September, with the Ace of Swords showing, brings whatever came up in August to fruition. The time is now.

October brings the Page of Cups. Could indicate news of a birth or a wedding.

November brings a curious Major Arcana, the Death card. I can only imagine that whatever plans were set into motion in August, culminating in September and becoming reality in October means I must release something from the past in November. Perhaps too much work or unprofitable ventures?

Finally, December 2008 brings the Queen of Rods, indicating balanced career and family interests, and, to come full circle, more career success!

The General Atmosphere for the year is indicated by the Knight of Swords. Knights typically indicate new people and changes. As we can see by the ups and downs of the 12 months, and the prominence of swords in this reading, 2008 will be a year of change. It will be a year with an emphasis on business and rapid movements, but not a lot of heartfelt emotions. It will feel as if every day and month is a battle as I fight to hold on to the present but, in reality, need to let it go for positive change to come about.

California, Here She Comes?

I shall pose one more question before the start of the new year. My California dreaming--will is become a reality or will I stay there in my dreams? This question is not necessarily pertaining to whether it'll happen this year (I am going on vacation there in October) but within the next few. I've put myself on a five year plan to get out there (as in a permanent move) but I'd like some perspective on it, if you could, please, Miss Michele!

It's no secret Miss Michele loves reading for her tri-state area friend, Kate Boddie. Let's see if a move to the left coast is in the cards for Boddie in the next few years.

And don't worry about the tarot becoming confused by your trip planned for next year, Boddie. In Miss Michele's experience, a short trip or vacation shows up very differently than an all-out relocation.

Well, Boddie, it looks like the choice is yours. Destiny won't stop you. The Major Arcana haven't come out to play, which tells us it's completely in your hands.

It looks like there will be a time of juggling--your heart will be in Cali while you're stuck here, perhaps because of a job or other financial issues. But Miss Michele is getting ahead of herself.

Wands indicate stages of preparation before rapid movement, and that's where you are now. The Queen of Wands shows your career is building in the present. (Miss Michele wonders if your last question about a permanent job position isn't just about ready to come to fruition in the beginning of 2008.) Outspoken, witty and sometimes caustic, Boddie's innate and strong personality influences her move. She doesn't fit in where she is, and views California as better suited to her personality. Miss Michele is reminded of the old cliche, "Wherever you go, there you are." And, of course, the whole Wizard of Oz analogy... There's no place like home, blah, blah, blah.

Misty Poses a Question

So Miss Michele asks the tarot, "What will be so between Mysti and her significant other?"

What a great reading to begin a New Year!

Miss Michele started with a three-card spread, but felt called to draw two more cards.

The short answers to Mysti's questions are: yes and yes.

Temperance, a Major Arcana, in the past indicates an equilibrium in the relationship. Life is moving on, both parties are happy. They have learned the art of compromise, sharing and all that a happy relationship entails. They are content.

The present, the Queen of Cups, indicates Mysti's desire to give more. In fact, the card represents Mysti herself, the nurturer and caregiver. Mysti's intuition tells her it's time to take this relationship to the next level.

The Tarot's advice comes in the Page of Rods. Pages often indicate the delivery of good news. They herald change of a good sort. The Tarot advises Mysti to use her intuition, keep her eyes open for hints and indications that her significant other is ready to take the next step. Rods indicate the final stages of activity before a change. The Tarot advises Mysti to be patient. This card may also symbolize Mysti's son, who will play a role in this next step of their life.. perhaps he will figure in to the proposal or be a ring bearer in the wedding?

Hidden Influences show all good things in the future. The World card, the epitome of the Major Arcana and all that is complete, reveals itself. The hidden influence isn't that hidden at all. The Tarot didn't give us a time frame, but coming as it has at the beginning of the New Year, Miss Michele is inclined to say the events will be put into motion in 2008.

Shenie Wants to Know: "Yes or No?"

Shenie seeks clarification of the matter. While the Tarot gave her some insight into the situation, telling her to work through this, Shenie would like a clear-cut Yes or No answer.

Shenie asks: Is he in my future? Does this have long-term possibilities?

Shenie, you wanted a clear cut answer, and the Tarot has provided exactly that! Although we need only one card (the future) to tell us the answer, I'll share what all three revealed.

In the past, the Two of Swords indicates the deception that took place; he pulled the wool over your eyes. However, he was not solely to blame. You closed your eyes to the facts in front of you. The hints were there all along, you refused to see them until this "make-it-or-break-it" trip took place. You can't blame him exclusively; you permitted this behavior by closing your eyes to the signs.

The Eight of Wands in the present symbolizes your thoughts rushing--all these questions! Also, a decision will be made quickly--it's time to act. Your reconciliation will be rapid and passionate (both in the negative and positive connotation of the word). Additional travel could be on the horizon, too.

The Outcome card, the Two of Cups, says that yes, a meaningful compromise will be reached, a commitment made. Compromise and cooperation are the keys here. There must be give and take on both sides. You'll find common ground and emotional equilibrium. Let go of your pride during the holidays and let the future take its course.

Alone for the Holidays?

In spite of having a ton to do and a mini-meltdown yesterday that my friends at AW witnessed, when Miss Michele found this e-mail in her inbox today, she had to provide a prompt reading. This is why Miss Michele is here. This is her means of reaching out and helping.

It's never easy being alone or lonely for the holidays--whether that loneliness is caused by the loss of a few significant people, although you are still surrounded by other family and friends--or you are truly alone, with no family and friends nearby.

That is Shenie's situation, and, in this difficult time, she's asking for guidance from the tarot. Shenie understands how the tarot works and that she is in control of her fate, so no disclaimer beyond the standard seems necessary.

Shenie asks:

I’m going through a really difficult time in my life right now. I know many people say they’re alone in the world, but in my case, it’s really true. No real family, no friends nearby.

There’s a guy I really love but he just did something that really broke my heart (no, he didn’t cheat). On one hand, I’m not sure I can forgive him, and on the other, I was so sure he was the one. In spite of everything, he was my hope of a real family with somebody I truly love.

So I guess my question is… is he my future? I know nothing is predetermined, but right now I don’t know what to do. I want to run away and never see him again, and I want to stay and try to get past this and build a future together.

But if somehow he’s the wrong person, then maybe I should try to survive this alone and move on. Shenie

Miss Michele has a friend who often makes ultimatum statements. "If he ever does this, it's over..." But the fact is, you never know what a deal-breaker is until you encounter the situation. *Most* problems, if you love the person, are worth working through.

Let's see if that's the case with Shenie.

The Five of Pentacles in the past shows the issue was/is financial or relates to the purchase of goods. The lack of cups in this reading shows, too, it wasn't in the realm of emotion, although the result was Shenie feeling deceived. It also shows Shenie's loneliness this time of year.

I was hoping for more insight into what he did, but the tarot doesn't see to want to reveal it. I guess it isn't important for this reader to know.

The Five of Swords in the present slot shows the empty victory Shenie has achieved by ending the relationship because of her lover's transgression. Someone Shenie knows may be acting in a self-destructive matter-- this points to drug or alcohol abuse, which ties in to the "hidden purchases" indicated in the Five of Pentacles.

Most importantly, the Five of Swords warns Shenie not to cut off her nose to spite her face. Do not listen to others--do what you, Shenie, feel is right. All three cards in this reading are Minor Arcana, showing that YOU are in control of this situation. He will happily come back if you allow it but you, too, have the sole power to end this relationship.

The presence of two swords indicates violent activity and turmoil. Leave or stay, it will not be a clean break or a clean reconciliation. But isn't everything good worth fighting for?

The Seven of Swords, in the outcome slot, warns AGAINST running away or escaping a bad situation. Only by facing problems head-on will the desirable outcome emerge. However, be aware, still, of deception.

Only you are there--only you know if you can trust him again. Miss Michele is reminded of another old adage: "Trust your neighbor, but always cut the cards."

The cards seem to be saying give this another chance, but be cautious.

I'm starting to have flashbacks of elementary school, where I was always the one to be "It" in tag, because I was slow and fat and easy to catch.

Anyway, I guess the five things I revealed about myself over at It Had to Be Said didn't satisfy Boddie's curiousity, as I've been tagged again.

As lovely as Miss Michele's reading are, and how wonderful, accurate and enlightening they are, I think it's time all of us sit back and let Miss Michele talk about herself a little bit.

Your meme, if you choose to accept it, is to write 5 obscure things about yourself and then pass the meme along to five others. Good luck, Miss Michele.

Since this is a tarot blog, I'm going to approach this assignment with a twist. I will draw five tarot cards and use each card to tell something about myself, my current situation, or my personality. I'm confident the cards that come up will be the information I'm supposed to reveal.

1). Well, at first glance, this first card doesn't seem like me at all. The Five of Cups indicates emotional poverty, loneliness. Ah, I've got it! As much as I come across as a "people person," I'm actually quite comfortable alone. Large crowds and mayhem make me very tired after a while.

I am also much better in one-on-one situations. At a party, I'm far more likely to retreat to a corner and have a deep conversation with one person, even if it's someone I just met, than to be the center of attention, doing belly shots at the bar.

2). Hmph. Another card I wouldn't think of as describing me... The Queen of Swords, a cool and analytical woman. When it comes to writing--and mentoring new writers--I can get VERY serious. As an editor, I'm a tough taskmaster. I bet people didn't know that about me!

3). Okay, the Wheel of Fortune. This card comes up quite a bit in readings for me, and it sometimes predicts the hope of a new car...which doesn't usually come to fruition. So here's my secret: I have bad luck with cars! They just don't like me. I take care of them, and they fall apart on me. Sadly, hubby has the same difficulties.I often say that if I could change one thing in my life, it would be to have a car that runs well and I don't have to worry about constantly!

4). Temperance... I love this card! It is one of my favorites in the deck. I once used it in a poem. This card warns the querent to practice everything in moderation, which is something I have a problem with. It's either all or nothing. 18 hours writing or I don't even turn on the computer. Spending all my time with loved ones, or retreating into the shadows to be alone. Watching everything I eat frantically, or throwing caution to the wind to enjoy all that tastes good. Yup, that's me!

5). The Ten of Pentacles symbolizes my life as it is now and my future desires. I would like financial security and to start a family. Okay, that's not an obscure fact, it's actually kind of run of the mill. But signs I've gotten lately show that 2008 will be the year for that to happen! :) I am a big believer in signs and synchronicity. Another big surprise coming from a tarot reader! LOL

Why Is It So Hard to Let Go?

Miss Michele feels compelled to do Sher's reading now. She's not sure if it's just procrastination to not do anything like 'real' work, but, either way, it gets the reading done! :)

The multi-lingual / multi-career Sher has two competing interests and wants to know which warrants her focus right now.

This is a common question. Writers, especially, seem to have a hard time letting go of their steady income to pursue their dreams. This can be wise, to make sure you have all your ducks in a row before you make the leap to full-time freelancing. But it can often pay to take chat chance.

I'm feeling betwixt and between and befuddled regarding two competing financial interests - writing and my "day job" as a lawyer (which is also subdivided into various competing interests - criminal, special ed, and bankruptcy to be specific). Being in something of a financial bind due to a death in the family and a divorce (major stress), I'm highly focused on money right now.

So - the question: which of all these competing interests is the best for me to focus on right now to meet my financial goals?

The first card, the Nine of Swords, shows the stress Sher has experienced of late. Known as the "Nightmare Card" the Nine of Swords shows sleepless nights, worries and despair. It supports what we know about a divorce and a death.

The second card, the Major Arcana Death, indicates the situation is about to change. The Nine of Swords shows a situation nearing the end of its cycle, in which your worst fears are NOT imagined. Things will work out for the better.

However, what the Death card really says is that Sher must let go of the past in order to pave the way for new opportunities. You're nearing the end of the grieving process. Miss Michele can say from experience that coping with loss does get easier as time goes on. For Sher, the cards say, now is that time to start letting go, focusing on the present.

For if she does, good things await. The Queen of Pentacles relates to Sher's inquiry about finances. The Queen symbolizes a strong businesswoman. But also a creator with a fertile imagination. Hi, I'd love a reading! I’m a little lost as to what path I should take next on my career. 2007 was a really good year for me: I consistently made an income from my writing, broke into a series of good markets, landed a few ongoing clients… This sounds all nice and good, but still feels like no major breakthrough.

If I sit back and think about it, I don’t feel any more successful than I did two years ago. Should I change my writing focus in 2008? In what way? Should I work harder on what I’m doing right now or should I focus on something else (for example, working on books rather than freelancing only)?

Wow, Sarah, your concerns sound so much like those of many writers! If Miss Michele may "editorialize" a bit before turning to the cards for the answers.

These are the marks of a successful freelancer: 1). consistent income, 2). breakthroughs into good markets and 3). steady clients.

Miss Michele, and her freelance writing alter-ego, is impressed. Remember, freelancing, like so many things in life, is not about that "one big breakthrough", but about small, daily victories.

Keep acceptance letters, compliments from editors, bylined articles, pay check stubs and other reminders of your success in front of you daily. If it helps, add up your monthly or annual pay and post it in your office.

I'm currently in a long distance relationship that has become rather chill over the last months. We still love each other dearly but plans keep getting set back for an actual in person meeting. The distance can be heartbreaking and sometimes it is easier to buffer our emotions by getting on with our local lives rather than spending time together but so far apart.

We've known each other a number of years (9) and have been 'dating' since February but I'm anxious about where things are going. At the moment the current plan/hope is that he will come here in March. Is this likely to happen or will further setbacks create greater distance between us?

In the past, the Tarot brings us the Four of Wads.

The freelance life is full of risks-- and opportunities. Sometimes it’s hard to tell them apart.

Perhaps that’s why the question of late, for Miss Michele and for others, is whether to diverge onto a new path or continue with what they know works.

Wordsmith seeks the Tarot’s guidance in such a matter:

I got offered a new opportunity to host a radio show, which will be great for my platform. Will doing the show be worth it, or is it a step in the wrong direction?

If we were playing poker instead of doing a Tarot reading, Miss Michele would raise. There are three Kings in this five-card reading. That indicates a strong male influence relating to the matter. Perhaps the associate is a strong male? There are hidden family influences related to this reading, as well. Let’s explore.

The King of Swords sits in the Past spot, relates to the cool rationality with which Wordsmith usually approaches matters. An unemotional evaluation of the offer shows it makes sense to do the show. The tarot’s Advice is found in the Four of Rods card. Again, this card indicates happy partnerships, and also a much-needed rest. It seems the radio gig will not be as harrowing or time-consuming as Wordsmith fears, and may actually provide inspiration and rejuvenation as she makes new connections and works in a different form of media. She’ll be laying down secure roots for future endeavors with this project.

Finally, the King of Rods shows us the Outcome if she takes the job. Wordsmith will find her associate in this endeavor to be strong, mature, and generous (and very, very male!). He is a true mentor who will play a large role in her life— not romantic, however. Strictly professional!

Incidentally, when no major arcane appears in a reading, it means that the decision is entirely, 100 percent in the querent’s hands. Not to usurp your powers of divining, but I have another question I'd like some clarification on. My job - I'm a temp that's been in the same position for about 7 months and the big guys are dragging their feet about actually hiring me. Proving myself isn't necessary as I've already shown that I want to stay and they want me to stay but getting the people to make a decision is like pulling teeth.

At first there was rumbling back in September that some hiring in the department might be done. Now, my boss (not the person I heard the September information from) is saying that some major changes are going to come with the new year. It's what her gut says.

I've been holding out since August. Not that I have job options knocking down my door to hire me but I haven't really actively looked because I want to stay where I am but being a temp and having crappy insurance is starting to wear on me.

So what should I do? Bite the bullet and hold out to the new year or start looking for something else?

The cards send us messages-- and this power is open to anyone who wants to concentrate and learn their meanings-- through the energy of the universe. They can advise, and make us look at situations from different angles, often bringing unseen influences to light. Card 1: Past, or what led Boddie to her situation: The Lovers...

This "number six" card shows us Boddie has been comfortable, happy, at her current job. In a state of equilibrium, with life just moving along. The Lovers, the card of Choice, says she's made the right decisions recently.

In the Present, at the heart of the matter, is Temperance. This is another card of balance and equilibrium. Could Boddie be bored and ready for a shake-up in her life? Things are going almost TOO well.

Miss Michele may be the "super-powered" aspect of freelancer Dawn Allcot, but her alter ego feels like she needs some superpowers herself, today, to stay motivated and focused.

The holidays are always stressful, but with a work-related to-do list a mile long, I need to know where to start. (Well, okay, I've been working for two hours, but I haven't gotten any greater focus in that time!)

To the Tarot, Miss Michele:

What project(s) should take top priority today? In what direction should I head?

An odd combination of cards...

The Past shows the Hermit, which certainly relates to my introspective weekend in which I did nothing but recharge and relax.

In the present, the Ten of Cups points to an emphasis on happiness, and family and friends. The focus is on completion of a project. It seems like the emphasis today should be on social activities and marketing rather than writing and copyediting. I must be on the right track, then, as I've already sent out one query. Maybe I should bite the bullet on this sore throat and start lining up interviews!

The future card, the Nine of Swords, seems to indicate I will push my self too hard and wind up even sicker than I am now. So...moderation and rest? I don't have time to rest... I will stubbornly push through, but, heeding the advice of the tarot, only work on what makes me happy at this moment. :)

Career Path Query

Heartchakra, too, is asking about her career path. Heartchakra says:

I'm a friend of Joanna's and I am blown away with how accurate your reading was for her. I am struggling with similar issues. In my case, I am a book designer and published writer struggling with debt and trying to find work. My degree is in fine arts, something I left behind a long time ago and never fully embraced. I would like to go into illustration, while continuing to write and design, as a way to reconnect with that side of myself. I am wondering if illustration is the right path for me.

Miss Michele did another five card reading for Heartchakra. Well, tried to. Some sticky cards made that difficult... (No, they weren't really sticky, they're clean! But two kept coming out at a time.) Let's explore the original five cards, and also see if the clarification cards add greater insight.

In the past, the Six of Swords, Heartchakra began to move away from hard times. She may have taken a literal journey, or this could indicate leaving one path (which she found challenging) for another.

The present shows still more Swords, the Six, (and the Nine, holding on for dear life!) There have been a lot of shake-ups in Heartchakra's life in the recent past, and she faces the potential for yet another move and career change.

Additionally, she's been cheated or wronged in some awful way. The Nine of Swords, the Nightmare Card, corresponds to this. The damage was very bad and Heartchakra is left wondering how she will recover.

The Hidden Influences, shown in the Major Arcana, the Hermit, demonstrates a need for isolation, for Heartchakra to be alone with her thoughts. Her desire for solitude to nurture her creativity is influencing her career move. The Hermit is the number nine card, the second nine in this reading, which shows a life cycle coming to an end. The focus is on letting go of the old.

Nines also indicate possible self-deception (supported by the Seven of Swords.) Is this change really what you want, or are you just running away from a bad situation? Make sure you are running toward something, not away. Nines say that this is the time to tie up loose ends.

The Tarot's Advice is to wait, exemplified in the Hanged Man, the proverbial card of "slow action." Take time to look at things from a different perspective, re-evaluate goals and priorities, and be true to yourself.

Now, Miss Michele is not saying "don't follow your heart" if you believe illustration is the path for you. The tarot isn't written in stone and it only shows one possible outcome. Just explore your motives carefully before making any changes in your life and go slowly. Build a strong groundwork.

Rarely does Miss Michele do a reading where so many cards say the same thing. They are practically screaming answers. The last card, The Lovers, points to a very positive Outcome. Three major arcana in this reading definitely point to a major life change on the horizon! A little background for our readers. (Since Miss Michele already knew this, it seems fair to share). Joanna is an accomplished author, with multiple titles to her name. (Including books about cats and runes! YAY!) You can check them out at her blog, Life in the Middle.

Still a member of the "book-less" freelance writing community, Miss Michele, and her not-so-secret identity!, hold in great esteem anyone who has completed a book--AND had it published.

Without digressing too much, Joanna's question was a bit of a reality check for me (wearing my writer hat, rather than my psychic hat!) I've always felt once a writer published a book, she'd "made it." Rationally, I know that's not true--there's promotions, marketing, and one book usually can't sustain a writer, financially speaking, for her whole life.

Even multi-published authors can have "rough years." Let's ask the cards if Joanna is on the right track and if 2008 will be any better for her, professionally.

The Two of Cups, when referring to career, indicates a mutually beneficial contract or partnership in the past.

In the present, we move on to the only major arcana card in this reading, indicating major, life-changing events are occurring right now or are just about to. The Chariot indicates conflicting thoughts and feelings. Joanna is on the cusp of a major career decision, and she needs to make that decision and stick with it--stay the course.

The prevalence of two fours, a five and a seven in this reading indicate a struggle that upsets the status quo. In the great life cycle, Joanne is in the middle of a phase--no culmination yet!

Will Diana Find Romance?

Not sure if this is the right place to post a question, but I’d love a reading. I’m going through a really, really difficult time in my life. I’m pretty much alone in the world and that’s because I feel so insignificant that I push everybody away before they find out how “nothing” I am. I had a boyfriend for about a year and a half and he broke up with me over the phone with these exact words “you are nothing and I don’t want that around me.” So obviously I’m not the only one thinking so. I’m emotionally exhausted and I’m honestly losing hope that anything will ever be better. I really want somebody to share my life with and if that’s not coming, I might as well give up hope now than keep waiting. So, where is he?

Before looking at the tarot, Miss Michele would like to say, your ex-boyfriend's comments are a reflection of himself, not of you, Diana. He broke up with you over the phone. He's a coward.

Finally, the card shows that an important decision must be considered carefully and, perhaps, ultimately made. Each tarot card Miss Michele has drawn, of late, speaks to this theme. Not surprising.

Well, on this rainy, chilly morning I had some difficulty finding any ambition. When I finally got moving, my thoughts danced in a thousand different directions.

My question for the Tarot today: Will I find focus and get things done?

The Lovers.

A major arcana for a not so significant question. What could this mean?

My thoughts could be on my husband, looking forward to some leisure time with him, and R&R. It sounds like I'm going to need a lot of discipline to focus on my work today!

The Lovers card also indicates a significant choice to be made: one path or the other? I've been pursuing a lot of freelance work, querying and applying for jobs. Will an opportunity arise that means I have to make a choice about a big project or continuing to do what I'm doing? I *like* what I'm doing... I don't want to give up now, while it feels as if I'm on the right path!

It's a bit late for Miss Michele's tarot card of the day, but it's still before midnight. I had to take some time to meditate on this card. It spoke to me loudly, but I couldn't quite understand its point.

The first feminine card I've drawn in weeks, the Queen of Swords symbolizes intelligence and cool practicality; head over heart; strong will and independence.

This shows my current emphasis on building up my business. I think I have passed a threshold. It is time to stop whining about what could have been, what was supposed to be, and get on with making the best of what is. Cool rationality wins out over raw emotions. Miss Drama Queen becomes Mrs. Professional.

Interestingly, the Queen of Swords emphasizes both teaching and journalism. My course for paintball writers begins tomorrow and I have recently helped a few fellow freelancers with in-depth critiques. I feel most motivated when I am teaching, instructing and guiding. It inspires every aspect of my life.

Miss Michele apologizes for her lengthy absence. Gearing up for a post a day in November, while her counterpart over at It Had to Be Said has been quite busy!

With so many deadlines looming, Miss Michele needs Strength and that is exactly the tarot card she selected for today's card-a-day reading.

The King of Rods

I can't make sense of all the masculine (and phallic!) cards in my readings lately. Once again, this card indicates a strong male influence, although more fatherly than strict and dictatorial.

(Note, when I once again drew the King of Swords yesterday, I decided to skip the reading altogether!)

However, the indication of leadership with the King of Rods could point to me. A teacher, an entrepreneur, a creative type. I may encounter a business opportunity during the auction I'm working this evening. In all, a positive forecast for the day.

Some days...

I already know what kind of day today is going to be. I was set to write this post about 4 hours ago, when my computer decided to reboot itself because Firefox had to "perform updates."

Then I posted a story for critiquing with an obvious error.

But I got what the psychic community calls a "hit" with my reading yesterday (unfortunately). Most of my readings have come true, over time, but it's interesting to see such quick results!

The Wheel of Fortune is supposed to tell of positive change coming in the future, possibly a windfall, money coming in. Or a new car.

Yesterday morning, my husband got up to go to work and found a dead battery in our Blazer. (Our only vehicle--as a freelancer, I don't need transportation during the day. In a pinch, my bicycle gets me back and forth from the grocery store very nicely.)

Hubby had the same problem coming home. Dead battery. And dead battery charger. Headaches ensued, after a long day at work. He made it home fine after fixing the charger. But who needs that?

"That may have been the straw that broke the camel's back," he said.

"It's dead?" I asked.

"I'm not sure what's wrong with it THIS TIME, but all the problems just seem to be getting worse. Might be time to look into a new car."

We had wanted to wait for my freelance income to stabilize a bit, but it looks like we may be car shopping this weekend.

I know I promised a reading here everyday, but I'm honestly not sure I *want* to know.

I woke up tired, cranky, cold (the first signs of autumn are here!) and in no mood to work. I was going to ask the tarot which project I should focus on today. At the last minute, as I shuffled my Hanson-Roberts deck, the question popped in to my mind: "What kind of day will I have today?"

Wheel of Fortune

After The "World", the Wheel of Fortune is one of the most propitious cards in the deck. Its number, 10, reduces to the number one, which corresponds with the beginning of a cycle. But 10 is better--indicating an advanced cycle, the first step of the next phase.

The card shows good luck, a change for the better, advancement and opportunity.

The reading says all my fears about RECON Magazine will be unfounded. The contract jobs I applied for yesterday may yield positive results and increased income. Perhaps the checks I've been waiting for will come in today.

Sometimes, the Wheel of Fortune forecasts the purchase of a new vehicle. That wouldn't be all bad either, considering the battery died on the Blazer this morning. But I don't think that's what it means right now.

With my e-mail box full of monthly bills, seeing this card gives me the ambition to plow ahead. Things will get better if I keep working.

King of Swords

We are back to yesterday's theme of Discipline, as the King of Swords is a heavy-handed ruler. It reminds me to stay coolly rational and focused on the task at hand. This card may represent two male editors I'm currently working for, their demanding (but fair) standards, and my need to get the necessary work completed (or, in one case, started) today.

It feels like it's in my hands to set the pace for the day and get things done. I'm capable of originality; my way may not be conventional, but it will accomplish the task at hand.

A major arcana indicates this little exercise may have more significance than I realize. I've seen a lot of sevens in my life lately, including this card, which shows progress, movement and victory.

I've also launched a few new projects. The Chariot tells me to take the reins of these projects, steer them through the course to completion.

That's certainly something I've had challenges with in the past. Discipline is key.
